What happens if my cruise ship is delayed and I miss my tour?

Contact TONGASS TEAGUE as soon as you can and we will see if we can rebook you on the next available tour that day. Otherwise, you will receive a full refund.


Does this hiking tour also include transportation?

Yes. As part of your tour package, transportation is included from the cruise-ship docks to the trail head and back. If you are arriving by Alaska state ferry or by plane, please make sure to contact tongass teague for special pick-up arrangements depending on where you will be staying.


Will the tour be canceled due to rain?

NO. BECAUSE THE TOUR TAKES PLACE IN AN ALASKAN TEMPERATE RAIN FOREST, RAIN MAY BE MOST LIKELY AND CAN BE A BEAUTIFUL PART OF THE EXPERIENCE.


What is provided on the tour?

IF NEEDED, BACKPACKS AND TREKKING POLES ARE AVAILABLE TO USE, depending on availability—PONCHOS FOR THOSE WITHOUT RAIN GEAr. BOTTLED WATER. ONE PAIR OF BINOCULARS TO SHARE. FOR THOSE INTERESTEd, please ask tongass teague about mindfulness or meditation or why we need to protect old-growth forests.


Can we book a tour with Tongass Teague on one of the many other trails in the Ketchikan area, such as Deer or Dude Mountain?

UNFORTUNATELY NO. THERE ARE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TRAILS THAT GUIDES ARE ALLOWED TO COMMERCIALLY GUIDE ON IN THE KETCHIKAN AREA. Deer Mountain and dude mountain are regulated by the tongass national forest and commercially guided hikes on these trails are not allowed.


Where do we meet the guide for our tour?

if arriving on a cruise ship, you will meet teague in front of the ketchikan city map inside and at the far end of the berth 3 GLASS shelter. Click Here for more detailed directions that also include pictures. For those of you arriving by state ferry or plane, please make arrangements for pick-up with teague. there is a 15-minute buffer zone for meeting your tour guide, i.e. if the tour is scheduled for 8:15 am, the tour will leave no later than 8:30 am.


unfortunately, the hiking tours are not ada accessible. Due to the nature of the steep terrain, wheelchairs, walkers, or motorized scooters can not be accommodated. however, the suv driving tour can accommodate storing one or two wheel chairs as long as the guest can get into and out of the vehicle without being lifted or has some help from another person who booked the tour with them.
